I take an old fashioned view that an asset has value if it generates or will generate cash. In my view the assets of Deepverge (DVRG) do not fall into that category and thus have no value making the company worthless. Mr. Market may or may not disagree but where I stand is clear. One of the joys of being a Bulletin Board Moron is that you and your pals can attack me – rather than asking Rob Terry about the TMC Southern Panama Pump - in two 100% contradictory ways. Yesterday saw a classic, but it kind of reminded me that running a business is not 100% about the bottom line.

Results today are dismal and the cash is running out. Yet at just under 6p the valuation is £95 million. Crackers.
To be fair the company’s product, sticking plasters which wirelessly monitor patients vital signs, for use in hospitals, looks interesting but when a company says in its statement “The Group is assessing a number of concepts and opportunities in the "Internet of Things"” I really see that as a red flag in the jargon hype department. There have now been 36 writers who have contributed to this website. They do so for a variety of reasons but one central reason is that – unlike some other websites – there is no house view. Folks writing here are not told what stocks to write about. That is their choice. And they are not told when to write. Once again that is their choice.
And critically they are not told what to say, once again they can conclude that a stock is a buy, a sell or a hold. We would never change their conclusions we change only grammar and reserve the right to remove copy that is patently libellous. As it happens I was just having a long chat with my good pals at the UKLA (part of the FCA) today. What fine fellows they are. So they have turned down Quindell’s application to move up from the AIM Cesspit to the main market. Rob Terry tries to spin it as a minor issue but this is a disaster. Across the UK Bulletin Board Morons are feeling the pain as the shares have plunged to 12p. Guys you should have listened to The Sheriff of AIM with my many red flag warnings (another one today HERE) rather than slating me. You can all buy me a drink after the AGM next week to say sorry.

I see that myself and Brokerman Dan have now been labelled “The gruesome twosome” by Bulletin Board Morons on Sefton Resources threads. I wonder am I really gruesome? I am certainly not a twosome.
I am not a twosome in that Sefton has launched separate libel proceedings against myself and Dan. He is my friend but he has made certain claims which he is defending and I have made others which I am defending. Lucky Sefton shareholders get to pick up the tab for two totally different cases.
Am I gruesome? Well possibly in many respects I am. The word is derived from a Middle English word meaning “to make one shudder” and is defined as “Causing horror and repugnance; frightful and shocking.”
Physically I am not everyone’s cup of tea but on balance I reckon that is a bit harsh. And so I guess this is a reference to what I am writing on this company. Is what I say shocking? To those who have stick their head in the sand for a decade losing 99.97% of their investment while management has trousered millions I suppose some of my revelations about the history of Sefton’s assets, misleading RNS statements on production, executive pay and the location of Jim Ellerton’s luxury Hawaii mansion must be shocking. It must cause horror for Sefton believers to discover the truth and for its management to be exposed. Being a Sefton shareholder must be frightful per se.
Repugnance? I think that is a tad strong. But I suppose The Sefton Board won’t be sending me any chocolate eggs this Easter so maybe they feel repugnance. But if I was a Sefton shareholder (and I am not and never have been) my repugnance would not be with a journalist who has been writing about this company for eight months exposing its skeletons but for the management that has spent ten years creating those skeletons.

Pete Finch is a Bulletin Board Moron who does not like me. He has posted a couple of comments on an article I did the other day. Sometimes he logs on as [email protected] and sometimes as [email protected] but he is a consistent fellow.
